Land Use and Wildlife - School Submissions
Protecting and restoring biodiversity and creating new natural habitats through good land use and integration into the built environment.
Ecologists suggest there is a global need for 20% of biologically productive land to be left for wildlife, equating to 0.3ha of wildlife habitat per global citizen, somewhere in the world. Our position on the edge of the South Downs National Park and within the UNESCO designated biosphere means that in Brighton and Hove we are blessed with a plethora of natural, open, green space, which needs protection, conservation, and enhancement.
One Planet Living means protecting and restoring biodiversity and creating new habitats through good land use and integration into the built environment. It is supporting beautiful landscapes and contributing to an overall increase in biodiversity and ecological productivity.
