OXO TOWER LAUNCH

Thank you to all who braved the Beast from the East to come to our exhibition launch of Empowering Women Entrepreneurs Worldwide with Lendwithcare.org and the launch of the Marilyn Stafford FotoReportage Award for women photographers at Oxo Tower Gallery on 28 February.

We had a great turn out despite people literally falling over on the ice on the way to the gallery and most importantly we had a great response to the speakers and the exhibition. This has been such an important and meaningful piece of work with a very real Call to Action to sign up as a Lendwithcare.org lender.

The exhibition is on until and including 11 March so please do come down to see it if you haven’t already, we have five outstanding photo essays on show from five talented photographers from around the world including Shai Chishty, Cynthia Matonhodze, Ana Caroline de Lima, Tsvangirayi Mukwazhi, Veejay Villafranca. We hope the visual stories about women entrepreneurs in Ecuador, Zambia, The Philippines, Pakistan and Zimbabwe will inspire you to get involved.

BRIGHTON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2018 EVENT

Thank you also to everyone who came to our related event to celebrate Brighton International Women’s Day on Saturday 3 March. We received this wonderful message following the event:

“That was a truly inspirational event today. The blending of photography with personal and global stories really resonated with us. In these fractured times, a reassertion of the power of small-scale steps for humanity is heartening; and from personal story to grand human narrative this was truly on show today.
Congratulations to all of you who still say ‘Yes, we can.’” Mo & Bob Charlwood.

These events also signify the launch of the Marilyn Stafford FotoReportage Award, supported by Olympus, for women photographers which is now open for submissions – please help us to spread the word about this fantastic opportunity.

We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who has helped and participated to make these events a success including Lendwithcare, CARE International, RubyMoon, Rebecca Conway (Year 1 FotoAward Winner), the 5 commissioned photographers (as named above), Marilyn Stafford, Jim Stephenson from MiniClick, our volunteers Georgia Vorburger and Mariah Colbourne, Olympus, Shifting Pixels, Spectrum Photographic, Frame of Mind, Brighton Women’s Centre, Brighton Museum, Brighton Dome.
