The photography exhibition, which has been commissioned and curated by FotoDocument, is part of CARE International’s wider #March4Women campaign, a month of action for gender equality.
The photographs on display showcase the work of CARE International UK’s Women’s Economic Empowerment work through their micro-lending platform, Lendwithcare.org. The work features inspiring women from five of the countries where Lendwithcare operates, visually illustrating how access to finance can provide lasting social and economic impact and change.
Lendwithcare is an innovative way to provide business skills training and microloans to entrepreneurs in developing countries as a means for people, especially women, to work their way out of poverty with dignity. UK individuals and businesses can become lenders through Lendwithcare and once the loans have been repaid, they can be reinvested or reclaimed by the lender.
At the launch, you will have the chance to view and purchase the framed photographs on display, listen to our inspirational speakers, including one of the photographers, Shaista Chisty who photographed the women in Pakistan. You will also have the opportunity to network with guests, including CARE’s corporate partners who actively engage in and support their Women’s Economic Empowerment work.
FotoDocument will be announcing the launch of our Year 2 FotoAward for women documentary photographers supported by Olympus.
In addition, all those who lend through Lendwithcare on the night will be entered into a competition to win a beautiful framed print from the exhibition!
Photographers commissioned include: Ana Caroline de Lima, Cynthia Matonhodze, Shai Chishty (speaker), Veejay Villafranca and Tsvangirayi Mukwazhi.
The exhibition has been made possible by the support of global law firm, Hogan Lovells.
