You are invited to the photography event Empowering Women Entrepreneurs Worldwide at The Old Courtroom, Brighton Museum, on Saturday 3rd March 12.30 – 2pm as part of Brighton International Women’s Day 2018 celebrations in association with Brighton Women’s Centre, Brighton Dome & Festival and Brighton Museum.

Please sign up HERE to reserve your free space.

The event will showcase the work of global documentary photographers who have been commissioned by arts social enterprise FotoDocument to photograph the work of CARE International UK’s micro-lending platform, Lendwithcare.org. The photo essays feature inspiring women from five of the countries where Lendwithcare operates, including Ecuador, Zimbabwe, Pakistan, the Philippines and Zambia, visually illustrating how microfinance can provide lasting social and economic impact and change.

Lendwithcare provides business skills training and microloans to entrepreneurs in developing countries as a means for people to work their way out of poverty with dignity. Individuals and businesses can become lenders through Lendwithcare and once the loans have been repaid, the funds can be reinvested or reclaimed by the lender.

Microbusiness RubyMoon, an ethical fashion social enterprise, lends 100% of its profits to women entrepreneurs through Lendwithcare and will be launching a brand new activewear collection in honour of the event.

At the event you will have the chance to view the work, listen to our inspirational speakers including one of the commissioned photographers, ask questions to the panel, sign up to become a Lendwithcare lender, purchase ethical activewear from RubyMoon.

All loans made through Lendwithcare.org at the event will be entered into a competition to win a beautiful framed print from the collection!

Commissioned photographers include: Shaista Chishty (speaker) Ana Caroline de Lima, Cynthia Matonhodze, Veejay Villafranca and Tsvangirayi Mukwazhi.

FotoDocument will also be launching Year 2 of the Marilyn Stafford FotoReportage Award for women documentary photographers which has been generously supported by Olympus.

Speakers at the event include: Nina Emett, FotoDocument; Tracey Horner, Lendwithcare; Shaista Chishty, commissioned Photographer; Rebecca Conway, Year One FotoAward winner, Jo Godden, RubyMoon . A special guest to be announced.

After the presentations, Marilyn Stafford will join the speakers in a panel discussion facilitated by Jim Stephenson from Miniclick.

Early sign up is advised as we expect there to be a lot of interest in the event – our Brighton International Women’s Day event was over capacity last year

We look forward to seeing you there.
